Rising Entrepreneurs of NIT Surat

Yesterday was great day. Weather was nice and I had a pleasant surprise from my good old pal Raghuram. He had invited two other guys and they were entrepreneurs and have stumbled upon an idea to found a company. Myself and Raghu were little early as the cafe coffee day, where we planned the meet, was close by my house.Initially I though he was going to introduce me to some unknown people. After chatting for a while he revealed me that I know them personally. That made me jump on my chair and we started playing dumbsy ( a guesswork game). That brought my memory back to my NIT Surat times and I was thrilled meet the chaps. Further revelations bought me close to the point that they are our batch-mates and jumping on my feet by the time I guessed the first person, it was good old Sangeeth and by the time I came close to guess the second person they already came it and it was our humble Satish Cheekala.

It was such a sheer joy to meet my fellow NITians and talk and discuss their dream. It is fun to talk to these chaps and happy that NITians are moving in the right path. They are onto creating a unique doctor-patient online relationship which is going to be the next big thing in healthcare domain.

I wish them luck and happy that they are taking the right step in their life.

Running and Productivity

Its been six weeks I, along with my lovely wife Kanchana, have been running with a group called Runners High. We have been running three times a week ( although we have skipped many sessions). Running in the morning made me feel very energetic. I have noticed that my productivity is usually high on the day when I run. I’m also filled with lot of enthusiasm and optimism on those days.

Well the goal of joining runners high was to train for marathons. Right now planning to run for KTM (Kaveri Trail Marathon), which is 12.5 K run, a quarter marathon. Gradually upgrade it to a full marathon of 42.5 Kms.

Product Development Mistakes in Companies

There are many times it happens that same product will be developed by two or more teams thus pitting them against each other. This will lead to great loss of company efforts and wasted energy and motivation.

Some of the great examples are Google Video and Youtube. As everyone knows Google took over youtube but they already had Google Video platform. So maybe team at google video were not so enthusiastic in welcoming youtubers, as their efforts were wasted in the end.

Enphase Energy: a Moral Booster for Solar Technology Companies

Enphase Energy a darling of wall street in the Solar Technologies finally went for a IPO, although it had to slash the IPO price by 30% to under $7. As of today it is valued around  $270 million dollars. Enphase basically designs, develops and manufactures Solar Micro-inverter to be used with individual Solar Panel to export direct AC power to the grid. It is mainly a power electronics company in the solar sector. It is the first company in the solar electronics sector to go for public listing.

Enphase gives confidence to other companies in the similar domain and also for the VC’s to bet on the sector. Other companies will follow the suite.

Recent Developments in Indian Power Sector

India is generating around 200 Gigawatts of Electricity annually and around 110 to 120, which is around 60% is being generated by coal power. Even after facing huge supply shortages, power companies are still banking on coal power ?

There are better alternatives like wind and solar which is gaining enough momentum to finally challenge these folks.

It is really interesting to see that by the time these projects comes live the demand should fall as consumers adapt green energy solutions.

When will the great Indian people understand the benefits of solar energy.
